Book 01.

1- (1998)

as privilege as knowledge as tradition, language has been used as a device to perpetuate the myth of cognitive meaning.  in response, these drawingbooks are an attempt to articulate the subtle inner nuances of speech.  often whatdoesitmeanwhatisitabout becomes a formal obstacle towards recognition.  come closer and pass a hand over the markings, of moments coaxed from the air to grace paper.  a soft breath floats in the guise of languages (in this case english and chinese) with the illogic of words, caressing the pages while simultaneously casting its lucid shadow.  the immediacy of speech rolling off the tongue, nonthinking and muted, now audible as thoughts.  associative connections weave themselves over an open field of drawings.  ‘meaning’ is as visible as sound contained within a transparent bottle.  time now, as ever, to exist outside of language.  otherness is reconciliable when thought is suspended in the corner where intention dwells.
